From the Ranch to the Rodeo

Short Answer: Trucks are used by ranchers to move cattle, livestock and animal supplies to events like the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

So, we discussed how holding pens at rodeos efficiently and safely contain cattle and how rodeo arenas are engineered to showcase livestock events with many spectators. How are these livestock transported from the ranch to the rodeo? How is all the livestock feed taken to the rodeo? The answer lies in the vehicles that are primarily used: ranch trucks.

Many of these trucks have powerful engines that produce considerable amounts of power and torque. This is generally enough power and torque to transport multiple livestock animals and cattle feed to and from rodeo events.

Also, to complement their powerful engines, the drivetrains used to send the power from the trucks’ engines to the drive wheels are designed to withstand high payloads—or loads that can be put in the truck beds—and towing loads. This is especially important when dealing with payloads and towing loads that can easily reach thousands of pounds.

Similar to the structural engineering associated with holding pens and rodeo arenas, the materials used to make these trucks must also support the payload and towing needs of ranchers. Because of this, ranch trucks use steel extensively in their frames. Steel is a strong material and relatively cheap to produce, which makes the metal a very attractive choice to make the structural components in ranch trucks.

How do these ranch trucks manage to drive in such dirty places and still remain relatively clean? How does livestock feed stay in the bed? It’s taken care of by tonneau covers and floor mats designed to keep feed in the bed of the truck and dirt off the carpet inside the cabins. Companies like OEDRO can help you find affordable floor mats and tonneau covers for your truck. Visit The Unifunful Toolkit today and search for OEDRO if you’re interested to learn more.

Bottom Line: Strong and durable ranch trucks with robust engines, drivetrains, and structural manufacturing are what make these machines the go-to option for transporting livestock and heavy supplies needed for ranches and rodeos alike.
