Why Waterparks are Worth the Cost
Short Answer: All the waterparks we love—from Schlitterbahn to the DreamWorks Water Park—are engineered to be great ways to beat the heat and have fun during a hot summer day
You might be looking at the prices of the tickets and season passes to these water parks and thinking to yourself, “Why on earth would I spend that much money to go to a water park?” It’s not a bad question to ask since some season passes can cost you up to $200. But, is it worth it? For many, the answer is yes.
Many wait for the summertime just to go to these kinds of waterparks. They’re fun after all, especially if they have death-defying slides like this waterpark does. Many of these waterparks also have wave pools that are also a big hit. But why are they so expensive to get into, not including the food and drinks?
The answer lies in their construction and engineering. Taking into account the water slides, the wave pools, and the lazy rivers these places might have, it’s easy to see the engineering needed to make these components work. Structural engineering is needed to keep those tall water slides from becoming unstable, especially if they’re designed to be outside waterparks and need to account for strong winds. Engineers that understand the hydrostatic pressure and fluid dynamics of water in places like pools and other water-dependent structures will also be needed when it comes to designing lazy rivers and wave pools. Furthermore, the land the waterpark is built on will need to be developed to accommodate all of the infrastructure needed to make it work as efficiently and reliably as possible. Once complete, the waterpark will need to be maintained year round. All of this, unfortunately, costs time and money and is why the tickets and season passes to these places can be so expensive.
However, once these waterparks are completed by competent engineers and construction contractors, these places will last and can be enjoyed for many years. Depending on how the company that owns the waterpark developed the land the waterpark sits on, more slides and attractions can be built to make these places even more fun! That means that not only does the money you spent on your season pass or one-day ticket fund the construction costs to build the park, but also to fund future fun attractions there as well!
So, if the next time you’re wondering whether or not a waterpark is worth it to you, your friends and your family, just remember that there’s so much to the price of that ticket or season pass and much more!
Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a great place to beat the heat and make some fun memories with friends and family, a fun waterpark near you will be hard to beat!
